The basics
Understanding Botox
"Botox" is the name most people use for botulinum toxin type A, a purified protein that temporarily reduces the activity of the specific muscles it is injected into. When those muscles contract less, the skin above them creases less — so lines caused by repeated expression can look softer.
In aesthetic medicine it is used mainly for dynamic lines: the ones that appear when you frown, raise your brows or smile. It does not add volume. Where a crease is caused by lost volume rather than movement, dermal fillers may be the more appropriate conversation.
Because the effect relies on precise dosing and placement, a good result depends on understanding the anatomy of your face and how you naturally express emotion.

What to expect from your consultation
Your visit begins with a conversation about what bothers you and what you would like to keep. Dr. Sose will assess your facial movement at rest and in expression, and review your medical history, medications, allergies and any previous aesthetic treatments.
If Botox is suitable, you will discuss which areas to treat, the expected effect, how long it typically takes to appear, aftercare, and the possible risks — including temporary bruising, headache, and less commonly brow or eyelid heaviness. You are always free to take time to decide.
How long does Botox last?
Botox is temporary. As muscle activity gradually returns, so do the lines. Many people notice the effect for a few months, but duration varies with the individual, the product, the dose, the area treated and how strong the muscles are.
Rather than promising a fixed timeframe, Dr. Sose will explain what is typical for your chosen area and plan any follow-up around how your face responds.
Combining treatments thoughtfully
Some patients pair wrinkle relaxation with other approaches — for example a subtle lip flip alongside lip enhancement with hyaluronic acid, or softened frown lines alongside volume restoration in the mid-face. Whether that makes sense for you is decided case by case, never as a package.
